JUNIOR LEAGUE 8 & 9 Years

What is mini footy for ages 8 & 9?

Junior League is an excellent way for young boys and girls to stay fit and healthy while having a ball along the way. For our U8s and U9s, it’s all about being a part of the team, half-time oranges and most importantly having fun!

8 & 9 years have their own special rules and the elimination of scrums. There are 8 players per team on the field at a time to ensure plenty of smiles and that everyone gets their turn with the ball.

The essential info:

  • 4 x 8-minute quarters
  • 6 tackles in a set.
  • Pass twice in every play.
  • First Receiver wears a Yellow Vest (8s and 9s) and Dummy Half wears a Pink Vest (9s only). Both players can run the ball, be tackled and not turn over the ball to the opposing team.
  • Goal conversion kicks.
  • Kicking is not allowed in U8s.
  • Kicking is allowed in 9s play but no bombs are allowed.

Boys and girls play in the same teams, usually until the age of 12, that way everyone can play with their friends.
